Ottawa "spin doctors", Toronto and the 1996 IOC stuff,
and Art Eggleton...
Have you noticed how reference to Eggleton knowing all about the IOC abuses
has been carefully avoided or ignored.
He was mayor of T.O. and had been told by his people about the behaviors.
He told his people to ignore it!
"While Toronto has always claimed it didn't stoop to the levels
other cities tied in order to win an Olympic host bid,
the auditor's report raises some questions:
The Toronto bid committee spent $150,000 in tax dollars
to buy 300 watches to be given as gifts to sponsors.
The committee spent almost $3,000 to fly IOC president Juan Antonio Samaranch
from Toronto to Trois Rivieres, Que. The report doesn't say why.
On a separate occasion, $14,000 was spent to bring Samaranch
and other IOC members to Toronto.
The committee spent $14,000 to fly the family of Jean Claude Ganga,
the IOC's Congo representative, to Toronto. Ganga is facing expulsion
from the IOC over his role in the Salt Lake City bribery scandal.
The report says there could be more wrongdoing --
but there are no receipts to prove it."
What I find strange is that this whole issue has been side-stepped
with the stories about ejection seats, dated vaccines, and on, and on...
So, will he get raked over the coals for a political faux-pas, (big deal),
and be real quiet when and where the money is involved?
Fancy that...
and welcome to same-o, same-o!!!
